Calendula & Magnesium Infused Tallow: Roughcut Herbs
At the heart of every Ranch Candy creation is a simple belief: the most powerful skincare begins in the pasture, the garden, and the herb patch. While tallow is the foundation of our formulations, the true soul of our ranch-made remedies comes from the herbs we grow, harvest, and infuse by hand.
One herb stands above the rest and is one of my favorites to grow “Calendula officinalis”.
Known as the "sunshine flower," calendula has been treasured for generations for its ability to soothe, comfort, and support the skin. Here on my Alberta homestead, I grow my own calendula from seed to bloom, harvesting each vibrant golden flower at peak freshness before slowly drying and infusing it into nutrient-rich tallow.
This slow infusion process allows the beneficial compounds of the flower to mingle with the naturally occurring vitamins, fatty acids, and skin-loving nutrients found in tallow. The result is a rich, botanical-infused moisturizer that feels as nourishing as it sounds.
To elevate this foundation even further, I then add magnesium, creating a uniquely Ranch Candy ritual that supports both skin and daily wellness. Magnesium has become a beloved addition to many self-care routines, and when paired with our calendula-infused tallow, it transforms an everyday moisturizer into a moment of restoration.
