Ranch Candy - this is only the beginning….

How Plants, Grit, and a Little Magic Built the Ranch Candy You Love!

When people ask how Ranch Candy began, I tell them it started with dirt — literal, Alberta dirt — and a handful of herbs that wouldn’t stop calling my name. Before there was Ranch Candy, there was Roughcut Herbals & Medicinals: my working apothecary and the roots beneath everything I make. It’s where I grow, harvest, and infuse almost all of the plants that power every balm, butter, and serum.

Slow medicine magic — made by hand, with intention, guided by my intuition in the seasons. The “rough” in Roughcut is the work — soil under my nails, late nights labeling tins with labels I’ve designed myself, the quiet knowing that true beauty starts in the dirt. The “cut” is the refinement — the transformation from plant to potion, from leaf to luxury.

And yet still has a beauty that is solid, dependable and sturdy like a roughcut lumber wind fence.

Then came Ranch Candy — the playful evolution. Skin food with soul. Herbal infusions turned into sensory experiences: tallow whipped with moonlit oils, botanicals steeped until they hum with life, scents that smell like the place where wild meets woman.

Together, Roughcut and Ranch Candy form a living ecosystem — one rooted in the land, the other blooming from it.

Roughcut is the science; Ranch Candy is the sparkle.

The truth is, I had been making tallow “balms” for quite some time and it literally became an evolution right before my eyes. I had a few close friends messaging and asking for more and honestly I wasn’t out myself so I was in no hurry to make more - not great customer service…. but to my defense it takes alot of work and well who wants extra work?! I made a few batches, messaged said friends and wow the tins literally flew off the shelf and I was like wowza I guess it’s time to get this business rolling. In the fall of 2024 I launched the Ranch Candy Facebook page and again, the tins started flying off the shelf so I started playing with herbal infusions because that is definitely my “thang”.

And here we are and I’ve never looked back…. and to say my whips have improved over the past year is a complete understatement….

One heals, the other seduces. Both are made to remind you what real feels like. People say it’s brave to start something like this — to grow your own medicine, to blend herbs and horses and heart into a business. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn’t.

But I’ve learned that the plants don’t ask for permission to bloom. They just do it.

So do I.

Because the truth is simple: Roughcut makes the magic. Ranch Candy makes it irresistible.
